Our Story

Our Journey in Fisheries and Pond Stocking

Golden Aquaculture began with a passion for creating thriving fisheries in the heart of East Texas. What started as a collaboration with a renowned fisheries biologist has grown into a trusted name in premium pond stocking.

The
Inspiration

Sketch of Mozambique Tilapia

Golden Aquaculture was inspired by a simple idea: creating thriving fisheries with the highest-quality pond stockers. Our journey began when fisheries biologist Todd Overton of Overton Fisheries was sourced to consult on the creation of a trophy bass lake. Todd's expertise ensured the lake was designed for optimal fishability, complete with carefully planned features and a sustainable ecosystem. To support the growing gamefish population, Todd recommended Mozambique Tilapia as bait stockers—a decision that planted the seeds for what would become Golden Aquaculture.

Motivated by this opportunity, owner Tom Calhoun began cultivating Mozambique Tilapia, ensuring they were robust and healthy to meet the needs of local fisheries. Over the past decade, Golden Aquaculture has proudly served as the exclusive supplier of Mozambique Tilapia for Overton Fisheries. With a focus on quality and sustainability, we have built a reputation for providing the finest, healthiest stocker fish in the state.

Now, we are ready to expand, bringing our expertise and commitment to pond owners throughout East Texas. At Golden Aquaculture, we are dedicated to helping you build thriving waters, one fish at a time.
